Thursday
Today is the day I’m finally flying again after 2 years. Greece is on the cards this time and I am super excited for it. It didn’t really sink in that I was flying until I checked my big bag in and then I got really excited. The flight was quite long but views over the alps made it worth it. We got the airport at half 7 so too dark to take pictures so after a yummy tea wondered along the coast line at night which was really peaceful.

Friday
Woke up to a beautiful sunny day with a view to the aegan sea. Had a look at town nea Makri after breakfast. It’s lovely feel to a fishing town and Greek food town. After this exploring I went to the beach to enjoy God’s creation and had a lovely swim in the sea. I left my phone in the hotel from 11 til half 4 ish!!

Saturday
Today we are exploring Athens and Cape Sounion in 28 degrees heat. We had a quick breakfast and then got on a coach to Athens. Once in Athens we had a guided tour of the acropolis which was interesting. All the steps on the way up are made out of marble so it can be a little slippery so it’s good to explore with plenty of time and water as there little shade there. We finished about lunchtime and found a place that does gyros which you have try if you go to Greece and had a mango and strawberry ice cream which was delicious. After feeling full I wondered around the small streets which eventually found myself at the main road. After much wondering with no agenda I found a zoo which has lovely paths and some turtles and other creatures around the zoo which I didn’t manage to see. After 2 hours of exploring it was time to make the way to most southern part of mainland Greece for watching the sun go down. The coast road is stunning along the sea. This is the moment when I realized I love Greece. Unfortunately I didn’t take time to take pictures of the journey.

Sunday
A free today which at first I had no idea how to spend it. But a few people were thinking of going to Athens and I thought I would come along to. We were very blessed as when we got to Athens the parliament the guards were changing with marching, the national anthem and a band playing. After this we decided to go to the acropolis museum as we went up the acropolis the day before. The museum was fascinating and I didn’t think I would say that as I am not the biggest fan of history. 1 to 2 hours go by very quickly while looking through the museum, by this time it was time for lunch. We found an affordable place which served amazing Greek food. I had a lamb kebab which was really good with peppers and chips. After this satisfying lunch we explored the little area with shops and found a few beautiful little churches. Before heading back we all dived into tasty ice cream for dessert which everyone enjoyed.

Monday
Woke up a little early to see the sunrise over the sea and mountains and it was stunning reflecting on the sea. Later in the morning we went to the sea sports centre to have fun peddling on the sea which was quite hard as it was choppy and the sea was lovely to swim in. For lunch I had a amazing Greek fish lunch which was really tasty and in the evening we had fun playing games.

Tuesday
Planned for today was a excursion trip to ancient Corinth and to see the famous canal. The views from the top of the road looking down at the canal are amazing. How people managed the build it so long ago is brave and marvellous. After the canal we driven up to a Fort overlooking corinth and the sea which on a warm day is exhausting but the views from the top were worth it. A few hours after we descended to corinth the city to have lunch to have a look around acrocorinth with all the statues, remains of temples, Romans baths plus a poduim where Paul from the bible preached from.

Wednesday
Today was a fun day at the beach which including peddlo quite a way out which was fun and nerve racking at the same time as the sea was choppy but we managed to get back. After that excitement it was swimming in the sea and trying paddle boarding for the 1st time which if you have good balance it’s worth giving a go. Once we finish the water activities it was time for lunch a few of us found a really nice fish restaurant which all the food was delicious.

Thursday
We had a excursion trip to Nea Strya the island that caught fire in the summer. On the way there we stopped a reservoir that supplies to water to Athens. It was so beautiful surrounding the mountains. I never thought greece as a country that had lots of hills there. Anyway back to the island trip. Fortunately the island is massive so it didn’t spoil the day as we didn’t see any fire damage. Because it was late September mostly places were shut so we had a yummy lunch which most people had fish and then swam in the sea before the ferry back.

Friday
Last full day in Greece and a group of us decided to do Snorkeling for the last big fun thing on do on holiday. So we put on wetsuits and heading out on a speed boat which was fun and entertaining as the waves were quite choppy. Once we were in the water with our gear it was really good fun to see some fish, and a sea urchin Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures because I didn’t want risk my phone getting wet. One disappointment was the wetsuits weren’t full length so didn’t keep my body warm for long. So if you go it’s worth getting a full wetsuit. Later in the day I just chilled by the pool and played games in the evening.

P.s I will put some food pictures in my photos on this website in case anyone is interested
